Singer Sinitta Malone was left shocked when ex-flame and now a good friend Simon Cowell told her about his affair with socialite Lauren Silverman.

Simon, 53, hit headlines when it was revealed that Lauren was expecting her first child with him, while still being married to businessman Andrew Silverman, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

She later got divorced.

Sinitta, 49 and Simon's friendship goes back to the 1980 when they dated and she is considered to be one of the closest confidante of the music mogul. However, the news of Lauren's pregnancy left the singer speechless.

"I was completely and utterly stunned. I was in such a daze, to the point where I wondered if I was dreaming it. But he sort of led me to guess myself. He started with something along the lines of 'There's something you need to know'... it was such a shock," Sinitta told Hello! magazine.

"My first thought was 'Are you okay with this?' because Simon has always been very vocal about not wanting kids. But it was clear that, by then, he'd had time to get his head around the idea and it was all about managing other people's shock," she added.

Simon's calm state of mind surprised Sinitta.

"He sounded odd, calm, strange, which threw me. I don't mind admitting all sorts of emotions were running around inside me," said Sinitta.

"He was very concerned about how I would take it, which, on reflection, he didn't need to be. He didn't owe me that consideration," she added.

Lauren is expected to give birth to the child in February next year.
