Country music singer Randy Travis is admitted to a Texas hospital, and he is critical.
On July 7, he was taken to a hospital in Dallas for heart problems, and later he was admitted to a facility in Texas. His condition was serious Monday night, revealed his publicist in a statement, reports huffingtonpost.com.
Travis, 54, was being treated for viral cardiomyopathy, a heart condition caused by a virus, according to his publicist Kirt Webster.
The singer, who rose to stardom in the 1980s and 1990s, recently made high-profile appearances, including a performance during the Country Music Association Festival's nightly concert series and musician George Jones' funeral.
The North Carolina-born singer has been reportedly trying to put his life back on track after a series of embarrassing public incidents involving alcohol.
Travis, known for his number "Three wooden crosses", was found guilty of driving while intoxicated in January. This was followed by his arrest in 2012 when he was found naked after crashing his Pontiac Trans Am car.
He was sentenced to two years of probation, fined $2,000 and given a 180-day suspended jail sentence. He was required to spend at least 30 days at an alcohol treatment facility and complete 100 hours of community service.
