Six killed in China coal mine explosion

Six people were confirmed dead and one injured after a coal mine gas blast in southwest China's Guizhou province, local authorities said.

The accident occurred around 11.50 p.m. Saturday at Hongxing Coal Mine in Pu'an county of Qianxinan prefecture, Xinhua reported citing the county government.

The injured person has been rushed to a hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the blast is under way.

The Hongxing Coal Mine has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes.
