At least six people were killed and several injured in explosions in Kenyan capital city Monday evening, police said.

There were multiplace explosions in Nairobi's suburb Eastleigh, a residential estate largely inhabited by Kenyans of Somali-origin, Xinhua quoted Nairobi county deputy police commander Moses Ombati as saying.

"At least six have been killed. We are still at the scene of the incident and will come up with more figures in a short while," Ombati said.
