In a sudden move, the Samajwadi Party (SP) late Tuesday removed its national general secretary Ram Asrey Kushwaha.

In an official statement issued by national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, the party announced that Kushwaha was being removed from the post with immediate effect.

The statement attributed the decision to party president Mulayam Singh Yadav though it did not attribute any reason behind the move.

Kushwaha, party sources say, was punished for his frequent interaction with the media, which many times ending up embarrassing the party.
