Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday said that space was now available for growth-promoting policies in the country.
Talking to reporters on his way back from his five-day trip to Japan and Thailand, the prime minister said inflation was under control.
"As we get control over inflation, I believe that in the coming months, there is more space available to pursue pro-growth policies," he said.
Asked if the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was behind the curve to promote growth, Singh said: "Monetary policy of the country is decided by the Reserve Bank of India. I respect the judgement of the Reserve Bank. This is also an evolving process."
"You will see inflation coming under greater control, and the space for growth-promoting activities also increasing," he added.
