Budget carrier SpiceJet Wednesday inaugurated its first flight connecting Kolkata-Bagdogra-Kathmandu at a promotional offer of just Rs.99.
According to the low cost carrier, the second service to Kathmandu will operate three times a week-- on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The airline already operates on the Delhi-Kathmandu route. The airline said 5,260 customers had already booked their flights on the Kolkata-Bagdogra-Kathmandu service.
"We are extremely pleased with the response received for our Kathmandu-Bagdogra-Kolkata connection. This direct service will provide our customers flying from either region much more convenience in terms of connectivity and reach," said Kaneswaran Avili, chief commercial officer, SpiceJet.
The company has deployed its Boeing 737 next generation aircraft on both the routes.
