Private carrier SpiceJet Friday announced it will launch a new flight connecting Kolkata and Kathmandu via Bagdogra from Aug 13.
The flight will operate three times a week - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the carrier announced.
The airline is also offering an introductory promotional fare starting from Rs.99 plus statutory taxes and fees for Bagdogra-Kathmandu.
With the introduction of this flight, the carrier will become the first Indian airline to operate internationally from Bagdogra in West Bengal's Darjeeling district.
The new service will help the people in the Darjeeling region, as well as those in the Kolkata metro region, have comfortable connectivity with Nepal's capital city.
"We believe this flight will not only facilitate tourism, but also be important for the growth of trade between the two neighboring nations" said company's chief commercial officer Kaneswaran Avili.
