New Delhi, Nov 17 (UNI) A senior Janata Dal-United leader on Thursday said the party supported the Modi government's demonetisation move but had reservations only over its implementation.

"As far as the JD-U is concerned, we have always favoured actions against those who have black money. We are with the Narendra Modi government on demonetisation, but have complaints against its implementation and the resultant hardships to the general public," JD-U leader K.C. Tyagi told IANS here.

Tyagi said there were no differences within the JD-U over the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes by the government on November 8.

"There are absolutely no differences within the JD-U. Our party President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ji is only highlighting the party's views," Tyagi said.

Nitish Kumar's statement in favour of demonetisation is only a testimony to the party's established policies, the JD-U leader said.

He said Nitish Kumar had, in fact, urged the Centre to go even further and initiate actions against those involved in 'benami' transactions.

Tyagi declined comment on a three-day ultimatum issued by Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal to the Centre to effect a rollback on demonetisation.

"We do not want to comment on what other leaders are saying."
