A man wanted for the murder of an elderly nun in Kerala has been arrested in Haridwar in Uttarakhand, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said on Thursday.
"A team of Kerala Police has left for Haridwar," Chennithala said.
The 69-year-old nun, Sister Amala, was found lying in a pool of blood in her room at a convent in Pala near Kottayam on September 17.
A wooden club, with which the suspect reportedly hit the nun at the back of her head, was found at the spot.
Police formed eight teams to crack the case. This week, they zeroed in on 38-year-old Satish Babu, a history sheeter.
After picking up his three close associates, the police cyber cell tracked him down to an ashram in Haridwar on Wednesday after he sent an SMS to his brother in Kerala.
Kerala Police then alerted their Haridwar counterparts who arrested Babu.
