Swine flu toll in Rajasthan now 387

The toll due to swine flu in the desert state of Rajasthan touched 387 on Monday, an official said.

"The toll due to swine flu touched 387 on Monday. Out of this, 365 deaths were of people from Rajasthan while 22 people from other states died in the state," a health department official said.

The number of H1N1 positive cases on Monday rose to 6,241 since the start of the year, he said.

Jaipur has reported the maximum deaths at 73, followed by Ajmer at 42, Jodhpur at 33 and Nagaur at 30.

The state government, with an aim to control the spread of swine flu, has decided to launch an orientation of doctors both in government and private hospitals.

"We do not want to take any chances, so we are working out a long-term plan to curb spread of swine flu," said Ashok Pangariya, head of the state government's task force on swine flu.

The government has already made medical tests free for people suffering from symptoms of swine flu at six government medical college and hospitals in the state.
