Hadi al-Bahra, president of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC), has reiterated the coalition's commitment to fight the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group during a meeting with officials of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Addressing a press conference here Sunday, al-Bahra said that, during his meeting with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Anwar Mohammed Gargash, he outlined the SNC's view and plans for dealing with the IS.
He praised the UAE for its firm stand against terrorism and extremism and said the SNC and the Free Syrian Army were the first to fight the IS.
"As an opposition, we are committed to fighting terrorism and we are willing to defeat it and that's why we need to be part of the international counter-terrorism strategy," he said.
During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on regional development and the situation in Syria.
