Hit by the recent loss of its popular leader G.K. Vasan in the state, the Tamil Nadu Congress Wednesday got star power in popular Tamil actor Karthik.
Dissolving his own party, Akila India Naadalum Makkal Katchi, Karthik formally joined the Congress in the presence of state party chief E.V.K.S. Elangovan.
Karthik's entry into the Congress comes days after former union shipping minister Vasan announced his decision to float his own political party.
Karthik is the son of late actor Muthuraman. He had joined the All India Forward Bloc during the 2006 assembly polls. Later, he floated his own party.
