Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday said 100,000 government jobs would be provided to the youth.
He told the state legislative council that the notification for filling up the posts would be issued soon.
During the debate on the state budget in the council, the chief minister said students played a key role in the formation of Telangana state and promised to do justice to them.
KCR, as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief is popularly known, said the government had already sanctioned filling up of 3,726 posts in the police department. He told the House that a notification would be issued soon for recruitment of 600 people in the engineering department.
He said steps were also being taken for filling vacancies of 1,500 teachers in Urdu medium schools in the state.
He told the members of the opposition Congress party that while there is no doubt that Congress president Sonia Gandhi formed Telangana state, they should also know who achieved it.
The chief minister reiterated that there will be no electricity cuts after May this year. Claiming that the electricity supply situation this year is better than last year, he said the situation would improve further in the coming months.
KCR made it clear that Telangana will not take electricity from Andhra Pradesh even if the latter offers it. He said buying power from a Hinduja project in the neighbouring state would be costlier than producing power in Telangana.
