Indian boxer Shiva Thapa advanced to the quarterfinals of the bantamweight (56kg) category at the 17th Asian Games here Friday.

Thapa was adjudged winner against Nadir of Pakistan by technical knockout due to injury in the round of 16 bout at the Seonhak Gymnasium.

The 20-year-old took just a minute and five seconds, recording a round one TKO-I win over the Pakistani fighter.

Kuldeep Singh (men's light heavy-81kg), Akhil Kumar (men's light-60kg) and Amritpreet Singh(men's heavy-91kg) - all round of 16 matches - are the other Indians in the fray Friday.
