Girish Kumar, set to make his debut on Bollywood boulevard with "Ramaiya Vastavaiya", says nothing is more important than the viewers' reaction.

"I believe that ultimately the film should speak for itself," he said adding that it applies to everyone - "be it a producer or a star or newcomer."

Son of producer Kumar Taurani, Girish wanted to become an actor "right from my mother's womb. Every day has been a step towards it."

For the opening scene of Prabhudheva-directed "Ramaiya Vastavaiya", the newcomer had to trim down, which was tough.

"Losing weight was a tough task. I tend to put on weight quickly. My introduction scene was a surfing sequence and I had to be in good shape for that. I got professional help and I started working out and eating clean," Girish told IANS.

"Ramaiya Vastavaiya", a remake of Prabhudheva's "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana", which also features Shruti Haasan, is a romantic film with a good dose of family drama.

Not willing to stick to one genre, he said: "I want to do good scripts with good makers. There is no particular genre I am looking for specifically... talks are on for future projects. All I can say is that I want to entertain audiences and make wholesome films."

"Ramaiya Vastavaiya" is slated for a July 19 release.
