Ridley Scott's sci-fi space adventure "The Martian", starring Matt Damon, will release in India on October 2.
The film was earlier scheduled to release much later in the year, but now Fox Star Studios will release it on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, said a statement.
It also features Kate Mara, Jessica Chastain and Kristen Wiig.
The story of the film has already garnered attention on social media. During a manned mission to Mars, astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meagre supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive.
