Skye McCole Bartusiak, who played Mel Gibson's daughter in the 2000 hit movie, "The Patriot", is dead. She was 21.
Tmz.com reports that police found her dead in the garage apartment behind her home in Texas around 9 a.m. Saturday. The cause of death was not immediately determined and no foul play was suspected, police said adding that it was being treated as a natural causes death. The autopsy results were yet to come.
Actress Abigail Breslin, who is Bartusiak's longtime friend, confirmed reports of the actress' death on her Twitter handle, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
"One of my very good friends and someone who was like a sister to me, Skye McCole Bartusiak passed away today. So devastated," tweeted Breslin, know for her role in the "Little Miss Sunshine".
Skye was only seven years old when she starred along with Gibson in the historical war film.
Her recent release includes "Sick Boy".
