Three people were arrested in Odisha Monday for gang-raping a 28-year-old married woman, police said.
The victim, mother of a five-year-old girl, was found Sunday injured and unconscious near Kuamada village, 30 km from state capital Bhubaneswar.
The woman was staying with her parents after being deserted by her husband, police officer Ramesh Panigrahi told IANS.
She was attacked by three men near the vegetable-garden of her parents, few kilometres away from Kuamada village.
Relatives and villagers spotted her and informed the police. She was immediately shifted to the hospital in Odisha's Cuttack district. Her condition was stated to be stable.
Police have arrested alleged attackers Gundicha Samal, 38, Abhaya Pradhan, 26, and Krupasindhu Jena, 30, said the police officer.
The accused, who are engaged in the liquor business, have confessed to the crime, the officer added.
