Three youths from Hyderabad were arrested at the Nagpur airport on Saturday over suspicions that they were on their way to join terror outfit Islamic State.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested the three youths at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport while they were boarding a flight to Srinagar.
They were allegedly planning to go to Syria via Afghanistan to join the IS, police sources said here.
Acting on a tip, Telangana and Maharashtra police conducted a joint operation and detained the trio, all said to be engineering students.
According to sources, the youths reached Nagpur by road and from there planned to reach Jammu and Kashmir.
Hyderabad police took custody of the youths and they were being brought to the city.
Police had reportedly counselled these youths in the past following intelligence reports that they were attracted by the terror group.
