Rishi Tandon, Sachika Ingale and Tanvi Khanna progressed to the second round on a tough opening day for Indians as three of their compatriots Urwashi Joshi, Madhav Dhingra and Adya Advani were knocked out in the World Junior Squash Championship here.
Joining Tandon, Ingale and Khanna in the second round were fellow-Indians Harshit Kaur Jawanda, Lakshya Ragavendran, Kush Kumar and Deepak Mishra who received a bye.
Dhingra, coming off a fifth place finish in the Dutch Junior Open, put up a strong fight against Hungarian Nandor Gergo Papp who won 3-2 after the Indian blew two match points at 10-8 in the fourth game of match Tuesday.
In the women's draw, Urwashi put up a spirited fight against Kayley Leonard of the US, but also went down 2-3 as the American girl held her nerve on crucial points to knock the Indian youngster out in the first round.

Men: Rishi Tandon bt Petr Zatrepalek (CZE) 11-7 9-11 11-6 11-3; Nandor Gergo Papp (HUN) bt Madhav Dhingra 8-11 11-8 8-11 15-13 11-7.
