At least three people were killed Wednesday evening due to armed clashes that erupted at a military checkpoint, a defence ministry source said.
Unidentified assailants attacked the main military checkpoint on the road between Warshfana and Tripoli, run by brigades from the city of Zawyia, Xinhua reported citing the source. The road was closed by Zawyia brigades and three men from Warshfana armed militia were killed in the clashes.
More than two years after Muammar Gaddafi's death, Warshfana is still considered as a stronghold of the former regime.
