The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday gave an undertaking before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court that three new labs to test swine flu and other diseases will be opened in the state very soon.
In an affidavit through Director General of Medical Health V.N. Tripathi it apprised the court about steps being taken to combat swine flu.
Additional Advocate General Bulbul Godiya said that Viral Diagnostic Labs will be operational for five kinds of viral diseases - flu, dengue, encephalitis, chikangunya and hepatitis - in September.
These labs will have a capacity of 50-100 tests per day, said the high-ranking law official while adding that an MoU has already been signed for Saifai, Kanpur and Lucknow medical colleges. The affidavit also states that post of additional professors will also be created at these places.
