Three police officers were arrested in Rajasthan Friday on charges of taking bribes to allow sale of liquor, officials said.
The state police's anti-corruption bureau (ACB) caught the three officers -- Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma, Inspector Dhoolji Meena and police outpost in-charge Prabhu Lal -- taking bribes in Udaipur district, 350 km from Jaipur.
"Two men had recently approached the ACB complaining that three officers were demanding bribe separately to allow them to operate licensed liquor shops in the area.
"The officers were threatening that the two men and their friends would be booked for illegal sale of liquor if the bribe was not paid," said Inspector General (ACB) Smita Srivastava.
She said a trap was laid to catch the three officers Friday.
"All three officers were separately caught taking bribe from the two men," the ACB officer said.
