Top honours for Nayan, Kush, Pradyumna

Nayan Chatterjee of Rayo Racing (Senior Max), Kush Maini of Dark Don Racing (Junior Max) and Pradyumna Vipul Danigund of Mohite's Racing (Micro Max) won Round 3 of the JK Tyre-FMSCI National Rotax Max Karting Championship at the Kari Motor Speedway here Sunday.

Chatterjee won the toughest race of the Round after beating top racers such as defending champion Ameya Bafna of Rayo Racing and Vishnu Prasad of Meco Racing.

Birthday boy Prasad started in third position and took early lead by overtaking pole position holder Chittesh S Mandody (Mohite's Racing) and Bafna in first few seconds.

In the next lap, Mandody attempted to overtake Prasad, but lost control and that cost him the podium finish. On Lap 6, Bafna slipped past Prasad for the lead while Dhruv S Mohite (Mohite's Racing) also went through into second place.

However, late in the race, Mohite made contact with Bafna and as they scrapped, Chatterjee emerged leader after getting past Prasad and hung on to win the race. Mohite scrambled to second position ahead of Prasad.

With this victory, Chatterjee (255 points) moved ahead of Prasad (254) in the championship table while Bafna was in third position with 244 points.

In the Junior Max, Maini dominated both Final and Pre-Final races and was way ahead of rest of the karters. In the Final race, Maini took the early lead and maintained the lead till the chequered flag, chased all the way by Krishnaraj Mahadik (Mohite's Racing).

Despite finishing second, Mahadik headed the championship with 255 points, followed by Tejas Ram (244) and Akash Gowda (240).

Earlier, defending champion Danigond won both the Final and Pre-Final races in the Micro Max category to maintain his lead in the championship table with 266 points after overcoming tough competition from Yash Aradhya of Meco Racing and team-mate Paul Francis.

Junior Max (Final): Kush Maini (Dark Don Racing) 1; Krishnaraaj D Mahadik (Mohite's Racing) 2; Arya Chirag Gandhi (Mohite's Racing) 3. Pre-final: Maini 1; Mahadik 2; C Tejas Ram (Meco Racing) 3.

Micro Max (Final): Pradyumna V Danigond (Mohite's Racing) 1; Paul Francis (Meco Racing) 2; Yash Aradhya (Meco Racing) 3. Pre-final: Danigond 1; Aradhya 2; Francis 3.
