Turkey has launched an online visa system that enables tourists from 94 countries, including India, to obtain a visa in just a few minutes, officials said Wednesday.
The new system replaces the old 'sticker' and 'stamp-type' visas which were issued at the border gates.
"Those who would like to travel to Turkey for tourism or business purposes will not have to go to Turkish embassies or consulates or wait in queues at the airport to obtain a visa," said a statement issued by the Turkish embassy.
"Applicants need to log on to www.evisa.gov.tr and provide the requested information, if the application is approved make online payment and download their e-visa," added the statement.
"The e-visa would be e-mailed to the applicant and the applicants must take a print out and show it to airport officials and customs officers," it said further.
However, the e-visa is valid only for the purposes of tourism and business.
