Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04 won't extend the expiring contracts of midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta and defender Christian Fuchs.
Swiss international Barnetta and Austrian international Fuchs will leave Schalke, as the club on Thursday announced that it won't extend both contracts, which expire on June 30, reports Xinhua.
"We held talks with both players and agreed that we will part company. Tranquillo and Christian want to look for a new challenge somewhere else. We thank both for their efforts and wish them all the best for their future," Schalke's sporting director Horst Heldt said.
Barnetta joined Schalke in 2012 to score three goals in 44 appearances. Defender Christian Fuchs moved in 2011 from Mainz to the "Royal Blues" to make 99 games and four goals.
Schalke completed the Bundesliga season 2014-15 on the sixth place of the standings.
