Two candidates each from the regional National Conference, the PDP and the BJP on Monday won the legislative council elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Voting was held in Jammu on Monday.
According to a statement issued by the returning officer for the election, Sajad Ahmed Kitchloo and Qaiser Jameshed Lone from the National Conference, Surinder Choudhary and Javed Ahmed Mirchal from the Peoples Democratic Party, and S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa and Vibodh Gupta from the Bharatiya Janata Party were elected.
The 87-member legislative assembly forms the electoral college for the legislative council, the 36-member upper house of Jammu and Kashmir's bicameral legislature.
