Two key Taliban commanders, Mullah Mansoor and Mullah Halim Zabulwal, were killed in Afghanistan's southern Zabul province Tuesday, police said.
"Acting upon intelligence report, the units of police raided a Taliban hideout in Arghandab district today (Tuesday) and killed Taliban key commander Mullah Halim Zabulwal along with two of his bodyguards," Gulam Jilani, deputy to the provincial police chief, told Xinhua.
Police ambushed and killed another key Taliban commander Mullah Mansoor outside provincial capital Qalat Tuesdaymorning, he said.
He said both the commanders were involved in organising suicide attacks, roadside bombings and creating law and order problems in Zabul province and their deaths have come as a major setback for the Taliban militants.
