A young man, a brother of a British Islamic State (IS) fighter, was charged by a British court Monday with preparing for acts of terrorism.

Mustakim Jaman, 23, was accused of breaking the British Terrorism Act and remanded in custody by Westminster magistrates, Xinhua reported.

Ifthekar Jaman, Mustakim Jaman's brother, travelled to Syria with five other men from the southern port city of Portsmouth in October 2013 to fight for the IS terrorist group. Ifthekar Jaman was confirmed dead in Syria in December 2013.

Another man, Tuhin Shahensha, 26, was also charged with terrorism offences last Friday. Both men will appear at the Old Bailey, the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales Nov 14.

The two were arrested along with a number of other people in Hampshire and London Oct 14 by the anti-terrorism unit.

Reports said a 57-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were released on bail, while a 23-year-old woman from Farnborough and a 29-year-old woman from Greenwich were released without charge.

Mehdi Hassan, 19, a member of the six-people group from Portsmouth, which has been dubbed "Portsmouth Jihadis", was confirmed dead Saturday.
