U.S. stocks end mixed amid Powell nomination
The US stocks closed mixed after President Donald Trump announced the nomination of Federal Reserve Governor Jerome Powell as the new head of the country's central bank.
The Dow rose 0.35 percent, the S&P 500 increased 0.02 percent while the Nasdaq edged down 0.02 percent on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reported.
Powell, a lawyer and former US Treasury official, will be the first Fed chair in three decades without a Ph.D. in economics.
