UAE celebrates Flag Day

Abu Dhabi, Nov 2 (IANS/WAM) Government departments, organisations, private sector companies, schools, colleges and people on Thursday celebrated the UAE's Flag Day with a plethora of activities to signify their shared love of the country.

Postal operator Emirates Post Group (EPG) joined in with Flag Day activities by hoisting the national flag at its head office in Ramool and in all post offices and subsidiaries as part of nation-wide celebrations.

The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) joined public and private sector organisations across the United Arab Emirates to mark the day.

Tayeb Al-Rais, AMAF's Secretary-General said: "The UAE Flag Day gives us a perfect opportunity to renew our loyalty and allegiance to our beloved country, and reaffirm our commitment to its advancement and to achieving the goals of the National Agenda of the UAE Vision 2021."

Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi's business and lifestyle destination, joined government departments, the public and private sectors, to celebrate UAE Flag Day.

Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, during the ocassion said that the country attained remarkable achievements under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Also, a flag-raising ceremony was also observed at Dubai Customs headquarters and Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
