Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that Kiev supports the US House of Representatives' decision to back a draft bill on new sanctions against Russia.

In a statement on Facebook, Poroshenko on Wednesday described the move as an "important decision" for Ukraine, reports Xinhua news agency.

Meanwhile, some Ukrainian experts suggested that the possible sanctions may bring uncertainties to the European and global trade, affecting Ukraine.

On Tuesday, the US House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the bill that would lead to stricter economic sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea.

The bill reportedly allows sanctions against Russia for its alleged role in Ukraine's crisis and the US presidential election, the claims that Moscow has repeatedly denied.

The Kremlin had said earlier that they viewed the sanctions bill "negatively", warning that fresh restrictions would adversely affect both Russia and the US.

To come into effect, the legislation on sanctions has to pass the Senate and be signed by President Donald Trump.
