Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik Thursday said called for concerted efforts to promote tourism in Agra to accelerate the Taj city's economic growth.
Naik was delivering the Dharm Pal Vidhyarthi Memorial lecture organised by the National Chamber of Industries and Commerce at hotel Clark Shiraz. He also opened a theatre festival later in the evening.
The governor said the state government should streamline security arrangement and improve law and order situation in the city, a tourist hot-spot because of the iconic Taj Mahal.
He suggested budget hotels with good food and facilities for the middle income group and said foreign tourists should be given comfortable stay in Agra as they help us earn foreign exchange.
Besides, he laid emphasis on cleanliness to attract more tourists.
