Uttar Pradesh minister Kailash Yadav passed away on Tuesday at Medanta hospital in Gurgaon after suffering a massive cardiac arrest, the state government said.
The minister of state for panchayati raj, he was a three-term legislator from Jangipur in Ghazipur. Kailash Yadav was also a minister in the Mulayam Singh Yadav cabinet between 2003-2007 and was very close to the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief.
A popular grassroots leader who started his political career as a gram pradhan, he had collapsed on Sunday at his residence here while meeting party workers and was taken to the Medanta super-specialty hospital for treatment.
Expressing his condolences, Mulayam Singh said that in Kailash Yadav's passing away, he has lost a close aide and that it was a personal loss.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and many other party leaders also condoled the demise of Kailash Yadav.
