Uruguay will give their all to advance as far as possible in the 2014 Brazil World Cup, team captain Diego Lugano said, as he arrived in the capital here for group training.
"We have to give it our all in order to get far," Lugano, a defender for English Premier League team West Bromwich, told local VTV channel Tuesday, reports Xinhua.
Uruguay, who are the regional champions, are in the World Cup's Group D, along with Costa Rica, England and Italy.
At 33, one of the team's most seasoned players, Lugano said, "Each player has to manage (his anxiety) in order to arrive in the best condition."
Uruguay's coach Oscar Tabarez unveiled Monday the names of the 25-man provisional lineup, including top players Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan.
The list, which held no surprises, includes 18 of the 23 players that competed at the 2010 South Africa World Cup, in which Uruguay reached fourth place.
Training began this week at a camp on the outskirts here, but the lineup won't be complete until May 26, when players like Godin, Cristian Rodriguez and Jose Maria Gimenez arrive, following Atletico Madrid's participation in the European Champions League finals.
