Former home secretary Vinod Kumar Duggal was Monday appointed governor of Manipur by President Pranab Mukherjee, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
"The President of India has been pleased to appoint Vinod Kumar Duggal to be the governor of Manipur with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," a statement said here.
Duggal, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1968 batch, retired as union home secretary in March 2007.
Duggal is currently member of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the apex body for disaster management in India, which is headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
He also worked as municipal commissioner of Delhi from 1996 to 2000.
