Former Netherlands football team head coach Marco van Basten will come back as an assistant coach under Danny Blind.
The 50-year-old former Dutch player will join the team's staff along with legendary Ruud van Nistelrooy, also named an assistant coach, Efe reported on Monday.
Van Basten's move came after the Netherlands football association, KNVB, reached an agreement with his current club AZ Alkmaar.
Van Basten, who coached the Dutch team 2004-2008, will be brought back as an assistant with an initial contract of three years.
One of the greatest strikers in the history of the game, van Basten won several titles with Ajax Amsterdam and AC Milan, and was named Footballer of the Year three times in 1988, 1989 and 1992.
His career was cut short in 1995 when he sustained a serious injury that forced him off the field.
