Veteran journalist and Dainik Bhaskar Group Editor Kalpesh Yagnik passed away early on Friday in Madhya Pradesh following a heart attack, newspaper sources said. He was 55.
Yagnik was working at the newspaper's Indore office when he suffered a cardiac arrest at 10.30 p.m. on Thursday. He was rushed to the Bombay Hospital here.
He was treated for three hours and was recovering when he suffered another attack and died around 2 a.m., according to the sources.
Born on June 21, 1963, Yagnik was associated with the Bhaskar Group since 1998. He was both an excellent writer and editor who wrote on social issues.
Several politicians and journalists mourned his death while recalling his sharp and unbiased writing style.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said: "I pay my tribute to the courageous journalist Kalpesh Yagnik."
Congress leader Kamal Nath tweeted: "His courageous and unbiased writing inspired all of us. His death is a big loss to journalism."
