FC Goa coach Zico said Thursday's comprehensive 4-1 victory against Delhi Dynamos showed that his team has hit upon the right recovery track after initial disappointments.

FC Goa were the bottom-placed team in the Indian Super League (ISL) before their win against Dynamos with just five points from seven matches.

But their strong showing against the home team away in Delhi has given them hope, the Brazilian legend said.

Goa jumped to the seventh spot in the standings after the win with eight points from as many matches.

"This victory shows we are on the right track. I am happy with the performance of my team. We must aim to recover the points we lost in the first seven matches," Zico said at a post-match press conference.

He said he was pleased with the way Goa pressed Delhi and forced them to commit mistakes.

"We looked for goals, forced them to commit mistakes. In earlier matches, we dominated and created chances but couldn't convert them. But today, we took our chances," the 61-year-old said.

He also praised Indian players C.S. Sabeeth, Cavin Lobo and Durga Boro for their performance in ISL so far and said the duration of rest period in between matches should be extended for improving the quality of football.

"The first year's experience can guide Indian football. The rest day between matches should be extended to give players more time to recover," the former footballer said.

Delhi Dynamos' assistant coach Mark Luijpers expressed disappointment at his team's performance but hoped they "will learn from their mistakes" and recover from the setback against Kerala Blasters FC at home.

Delhi plummeted to the bottom of the league ladder with seven points from eight games.

"We made a lot of errors during the match. We will analyse them and look for improvement in every department of our game. We still believe we can qualify for the semi-finals. But we need to get our act together now."
