A video film contest was launched here on Wednesday to showcase how Swami Vivekananda's ideas have been applied practically in the society in the current economic and social scenario by the youth.
"Applied Vivekananda" is a pan-India competition to "induce and encourage the young and the not so young to participate and in the process, get to know about one of the greatest personalities ever born", said the organisers Kolkata Sukriti Foundation.
Participants in two categories -- 13 to 19 and those above 20 years of age -- would be required to submit DVD entries of their films of 2-10 minutes duration in various formats including those shot through mobile phone cameras.
There would be three cash prizes in each category. Winners will be declared on January 10. The prize distribution ceremony will take place on Vivekananda's birthday on January 12.
