Vietnamese striker Le Cong Vinh was voted the best football player in Southeast Asia in a contest organised by online sports newspaper Goal.
Vinh, who won Vietnam's Golden Ball award three times, beat 20 nominees from other Southeast Asian countries to win the award, reports Xinhua.
He got a total of 68.6 percent of votes in favour, far exceeding the second placed Khim Borey of Cambodia who just had 29.3 percent of votes, and the third placed Shahril Ishak of Singapore with 1.2 percent of votes.
Vinh won great support from his fans after he signed a contract for his home team FC Song Lam Nghe An during this football season. He is now V-League's top scorer with 14 goals.
In 2009, Vinh played for Portugal's Leixoes FC but had little chance to appear in the lineup.
