Vietnam will face strong rivals at the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Under-16 championship slated for July 10 to 23 in Cambodia, a sports official said on Tuesday.
Vietnam is in Group A along with Myanmar, Australia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, the official from the Vietnam Football Federation said, noting that Australia is very powerful while other rival teams are making good progress, reports Xinhua.
Group B consists of defending champion Thailand, Laos, Timor Leste, Brunei and Cambodia.
Vietnam will clash with Malaysia on July 10, Australia on July 12, Myanmar on July 14, the Philippines on July 16 and Singapore on July 18.
The championship is a good opportunity for Vietnam to prepare for the final round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) under-16 Championship in September in India, said the official.
