Intelligence agencies have alerted police in seven districts of Uttar Pradesh bordering Nepal after they received inputs about Maoist activities picking up on the border, an official said on Monday.
The state intelligence agencies have alerted police in Balrampur, Shrawasti, Pilibhit, Kheri, Bahraich, Siddhartnagar and Maharajganj districts.
District police chiefs have been asked to be on alert and coordinate with the Special Task Force, local intelligence unit and the Sashastra Seema Bal, the official told IANS.
Sources said the Maoist activities have picked up in the region and they might try infiltrate to India.
"There has been some activities in the region and some pamphlets, sympathising with the Maoists were distributed in some places," the official said.
