Vijay Goel elected to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan

Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Delhi unit chief Vijay Goel was Friday elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.

Talking to media here after his election, Goel said: "Around 60 percent of Rajasthan is desert. It needs to be granted special status to expedite the development process."

A three-time Lok Sabha member, Goel Tuesday filed his nomination papers in the state where the BJP swept back to power in the December assembly elections.
