A village headman was killed Saturday by terrorists in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, on a day when the last phase of assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir.
Gulam Ahman Bhat, headman of Bomai village, was shot dead from close range by militants Saturday morning.
While being shifted to hospital, he succumbed to his bullet injuries, a senior police official told IANS here.
He is the third village headman to be killed since the assembly poll process started in October and the 13th headman to have been killed since 2011, the year Panchayat elections were held in the state after 30 years.
The official said that a case has been registered.
