Telecom major Vodafone has come onboard as the title sponsor of the Premier Badminton League (PBL), it was announced on Saturday.
The fortnight-long event from Sunday will see six teams -- Chennai Smashers, Hyderabad Hunters, Bengaluru Blasters, Delhi Acers, Awadhe Warriors and Mumbai Rockets -- fight for the Rs 6 crore ($883,000) prize purse, the highest for any badminton tournament in the world.
Talking about the mega association, Prasad Mangipudi , Manager Director of SportzLive, the Licensee holder of the League, said: "It is a matter of pride to join hands with one of the leading telecomm majors, Vodafone as the title sponsors."
"Their decision to associate with the league not only shows Vodafone's commitment towards Indian sports but also their belief in the growing stature of the PBL. I am quite confident that our dedication and their support will help us to take the league to new heights this year."
