Oslo, Sep 2 (Tass) Hackers have been trying to break into the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) website on a daily basis over the past three weeks, its director general Olivier Niggli has said.
Norwegian broadcasting corporation NRK quoted Niggli on Thursday as claiming that Russian hackers might be involved in the attacks, reports Tass.
"We've been undergoing attacks by hackers every day for almost three weeks," Niggli said.
"This is taking place all the time and is very irritating. We have serious suspicions those hackers are from Russia."
He also said WADA and its informers were getting threats regularly and the hackers were ripping up their e-mails.
In addition, Niggli had an apprehension someone was bugging the informers' homes.
WADA said earlier the hackers had broken up efficiently the agency's computer system and had thus gotten access to the account of the Russian informer, Yuliya Stepanova, in the anti-doping administration and management system ADAMS.
In the wake of the incident, WADA took a decision to block her account so as to restrict the hackers' access to the histories of athletes' doping tests.
International sports organisations, including the International Olympic Committee have been the targets of hackers' attacks, too.
