Actress Courteney Cox, who worked as a director for "Just Before I Go", says she was drawn to the comic entertainer because she found a connect between the film and her personality.
The "Cougar Town" actress' directorial was released April 24.
"I was drawn to the hilarity and subversive humour. Between the heartfelt stuff and the crazy obscure humour, it (the film) was perfect for my personality. It was grounded yet outrageous," contactmusic.com quoted the 49-year-old as saying.
The actress, who has a nine-year-old daughter Coco with ex-husband and actor David Arquette, debuted the movie at the Tribeca Film Festival. She was so nervous that she forgot the speech that she had to deliver.
"Going up there and seeing people watching the movie at a festival where they're expecting something - I don't know, I just got really nervous. I meant to say that Coco, my daughter, sang the opening song, but I forgot," she said.
