Local wild card Siddharth Verma stunned fifth seed Royson Kwan of Singapore to enter the quarter-finals of the men's singles event at the red clay courts of the Calcutta South Club Senior ITF Tennis Championship here on Tuesday.
Verma took less than an hour to drub Kwan by a dominating 6-1, 6-1.
Verma will face Dilip Mohanty in the quarter-final on Wednesday.
Another wild card entrant in men's singles, Saurav Chakraborty, did not have a similar fate as he went down to ex-national champion Nitten Kirrtane, seeded first in the draw, by a one-sided 1-6,0-6.
Meanwhile, wild card entrant Asish Sen proved to be too good for Great Britain's Christopher New as the former won the pre-quarter final by an easy 6-1,6-1.
Sen will face 4th seeded Naresh Khatri in the quarters on Wednesday.
